A little bit more about GIRL ISLAND, and why I wrote it:
Lord of the Flies was one of my favourite books growing up. Teachers and critics have always debated whether the same thing would have happened if a group of young women were left alone on an island. Having experienced toxic femininity and bullying first-hand as a teenager, I set out to try and prove that it could. While this is a standalone story with new characters and different themes (and a central f/f romance, of course!), fans of Lord of the Flies will recognise a few deliberate nods to William Golding’s dystopian masterpiece.
